APRIL EDITION
The season is finally underway, but you wouldn't know it with the weather we have been having. Games have consisted of not just the odd spell of rain, but also sun, wind and even hail. However, one thing that is a certainty when it comes to the new season is the state of our green. Every year I comment that we are so lucky to have such a fantastic green, even capable of holding minor County Matches as shown last year. This isn't without hard work though, and many thanks must go to everyone who has helped out in some way or other, whether it be cutting the grass, replacing striker boards or treating the green. Chris Bird is always a big influence in getting the green ready during the pre-season, so another well done must go to him!
Not only is the green in perfect condition, but the new clubhouse really is a great boost, and already within just a week of the season commencing we have had some excellent comments. The situation regarding the pub also looks promising, as first impressions appear to suggest he will be very much behind our club.
From off the green to on it, and already this season we have played two club competitions. Well done to Andy Boswell who won the Boxing Day Trophy, and to Dave and Paul Whitcombe who won the Courage Clock Doubles. If I can point you in the direction of the Heart of England website (here) and the Warwick and Worcester site (here), you will be able to see league news and results, as well as monthly columns from the chairman.
Let's hope for another excellent season on, and off, the green.
